League Rules - Page 3

Below are the league settings and rules for the BMFL. Most of these rules are not set in stone, so if you have any suggestions, just drop a line to [email protected].

Starting the League:

The league should be starting sometime around the 17th of October, when I'll be getting a DSL. The league will be simmed through Year 1, so all team functions will begin with Player Retirees. No players can be signed or moved around until then, although you are able to start discussing trades right now if you'd like.

Game Play Schedule:

Two league games will be played a week, according to the following schedule:

  • Monday: Week A Play
  • Tuesday: Week A Play
  • Wednesday: Transaction Day - this day will be used for trade talk, free agent signing and general team tweaking. The league will not be advanced to the next week until midnight on Wednesday, giving you a definate time table for moves. Wednesday can also be used as a swing day for playing games if you're unable to schedule a game with your opponent on Mon., Tues. or Sunday. However, the league will still be advanced to the next week at midnight.
  • Thursday: Week B Play
  • Friday: Week B Play
  • Saturday: Will also be used as a swing day like Wednesday, with the Week being advanced at midnight.
  • Sunday: Super Swing Day - Basically Sunday is scheduled as an off day, but can be used to schedule games for either Week B or Week A of the upcoming Week. Players need to let the commish know of their plans as far in advance as possible, however, because planning will need to be made for when exactly weeks will be advanced and games can be played.

In the event a game is going to be played on a swing day, both owners must contact the commissioner by either email or ICQ, informing him of what day and approximate time the game will be played.

After Week 6 Wednesday and Saturday will become regular game play days, since the trading deadline will have passed.

Scheduling Games with Your Opponents:

It is up to each team to get together through either email or ICQ and determine a day and a time to play their games. In the event a time and day can not be agreed upon, the game will be simulated. While we want to try and be as flexible as possible with the game play schedule to insure as many games as possible are played, we need to stick as close to it as possible to insure the league continues to move smoothly and remains active.
